Our “Neck of the Woods” The Acadian Forest

The Acadian Forest is a moist and temperate forest located between Northern Hardwood forests to the south, and Boreal Forest to the north. The Acadian Forest is listed as an Endangered Forest by the World Wildlife Fund due to over harvest, conversion of natural forest communities to plantation, and development. The influence of the ocean on weather patterns is significant, contributing to the humid conditions with 30-40 inches of rainfall annually. Temperatures in the Acadian Forest range from -40F to 100F.

There are 25 forest types within the Acadian Forest (see Forest Stand Types in the Acadian Forest).
